# XGIMI Play 6 (CN) — Customization Session Summary

## Goal
Replace Chinese stock launcher and Sogou keyboard with custom launcher (HALauncher) and Gboard. No root, no firmware flash.

## Key Findings

### Firmware
- CN and Global versions differ **hardware-level** — global firmware won't install on CN unit
- No community-made custom ROM for Play 6 exists yet (as of early 2026)
- Active 4PDA thread: https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1115248

### ADB
- USB ADB: **not working** — projector doesn't expose itself as USB device despite cable + ADB enabled in settings
- Wireless ADB (Android 12+ feature via SystemUI Tuner by zacharee1): **not working** — projector is on Android 11 or lower
- ADB over port 5555 via older SystemUI Tuner (ALEKSKART): **not yet tried** — next step

### APK Installation
- Works via USB stick (FAT32), rename files: `app.apk` → `app.apk.1`
- Not all apps launch after install (e.g. Kinopoisk fails, VK Video works)

### Secret menu
- Last settings item → hold **down arrow 5+ sec** → hidden service menu appears
- Contains focus calibration and keyboard selection
- Switching keyboard from there didn't work for one user

## What's Been Done
- [x] Installed SystemUI Tuner (zacharee1) via USB stick + rename trick
- [x] Opened SystemUI Tuner on projector (using USB mouse)
- [x] Found 开发者 (Developer) section
- [x] Enabled ADB (single checkbox in settings)
- [x] Confirmed USB ADB doesn't work (projector invisible to Mac via USB)
- [x] Confirmed Wireless ADB requires Android 12+ (not available)

## The Working Method (from 4PDA post)
Once ADB is connected:

```bash
# Disable Sogou keyboard
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.sohu.inputmethod.sogou.tv

# Disable stock XGIMI launcher
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xgimi.home
```

Revert if needed:
```bash
adb shell pm enable com.sohu.inputmethod.sogou.tv
adb shell pm enable com.xgimi.home
```

## Next Steps

1. **Download SystemUI Tuner by ALEKSKART** (older version, supports Android 9-11, enables ADB on port 5555)
   - Link: https://4pda.to/forum/index.php?showtopic=1057683
   - File: `SystemUITuner-1.0-min-sdk28.apk`
   - Requires 4PDA account to download

2. **Install it on projector** via USB stick (rename to `.apk.1`)

3. **Open it**, find option to enable ADB / port 5555

4. **Connect from Mac:**
   ```bash
   adb connect <projector-ip>:5555
   adb devices
   ```

5. **Install Gboard + HALauncher** via ADB if USB stick method is unreliable:
   ```bash
   adb install Gboard.apk
   adb install HALauncher.apk
   ```

6. **Run disable commands** from "Working Method" above

7. **Reboot** and verify HALauncher loads as home screen
